Colchester Stables

The Barns

The short barn is a heated, eight stall barn that is attached to our indoor arena. We have a 2 tack rooms for the lesson horses, and some tack lockers for our boarders. There is a mailbox for paperwork and cheques, microwave, water and vending machines in the lab. We also have cross tie stalls for tacking up.

The long barn has eleven 10' x 10' stalls. There are four tack rooms, and two cross ties to tie your horse to groom it and tack it up. The stalls in our barns all have rubber stall mats. They are cleaned daily, and fresh shavings are added. The horses are fed hay cubes and grain three times a day. They are turned out in a group pasture during the day.

Free Choice Hay is provided outside in fields and individual pens for all horses.

Boarding

MONTHLY BOARD RATES (effective Sept 1st, 2011)

• a 5% loyalty discount for any horse that has been boarded for 12 consecutive months at Colchester Stables. It cannot be combined with any other discount.
• A 10% discount is available for 3 or more horses owned by a single owner/family (whether inside and/or outside). Maximum 2 lockers/family.
• No individual pen board available except injured/sick horses.

OUTDOOR BOARD: $295+GST

• Option 1: Mare or Gelding Field -- Free choice hay rolled out or grass and cubes 2x/day in a group of 15-25 horses in a 5-10 acre field.
• Option 2: Easy Keeper Field -- timothy hay fed 2x/day in a group of horses in a 5 acre field. 1 hour/day of grass turnout in summer months.

INSIDE BOARD: $485 + GST

• 10x10 box stalls with rubber mats, group turnout with free choice hay rolled out. Hay cubes and oats provided inside, available between October and May only.

All Indoor and Outdoor board includes one tack locker per horse owner, use of barn to tack up and arena use. Boarders may use arenas 7 days a week 8am-10pm Monday through Saturday and 8am-9pm Sundays and can ride during lessons (though must respect the wishes of the instructor about no longeing and other safety related issues).
